Inspiration
Mouse (2021):
One of my main inspirations for my thriller blog was the Korean drama Mouse, because it made me realise how powerful psychological thrillers can be. The show inspired me mainly through the way it keeps the audience constantly questioning the characters and their intentions, which creates a strong sense of suspense. This pushed me to think about how I could make my blog feel mysterious and unpredictable rather than giving everything away straight away. Mouse also focuses a lot on the human mind and moral choices, which inspired me to include darker themes and make my content feel more serious and thought-provoking. The slow reveals and shocking twists showed me how important pacing is, and this influenced how I structured my blog to slowly build tension and keep readers interested. Overall, Mouse inspired me because it proved that thrillers don’t need constant action, but instead rely on atmosphere, psychology and suspense to be effective.
Saltburn (2023):
I was also inspired by the psychological thriller film Saltburn (2023), because it showed me how tension can be created through mood, visuals and character behaviour rather than obvious horror. The film’s use of strong colours, dramatic lighting and unusual camera shots made me think more carefully about how visual style can influence the audience’s emotions. This inspired me to focus on creating a specific tone in my blog that feels uncomfortable and intriguing. The characters in Saltburn are unsettling in a subtle way, which influenced me to make my blog feel tense through suggestion rather than shock. The slow pacing of the film also inspired me to take my time with how ideas are revealed, instead of rushing the content. Overall, Saltburn inspired me because it showed that a thriller can be disturbing and engaging through atmosphere, symbolism and character dynamics, which heavily influenced how I approached my blog.
