Decisions Taken After Audience Research

After looking at our audience research, me and my group decided to go with the thriller genre for our media product. This was mainly because most people said they prefer mystery and suspense. Around more than half of the audience chose these genres, so it made sense for us to create something similar that they would enjoy watching.

Since a lot of people said they like strong storylines and plot twists, we decided to focus more on the narrative. We planned to make the story build up slowly instead of showing everything at once, so it keeps the audience interested. We also wanted to include a twist so it doesn’t feel predictable.

Another thing we noticed was that people really pay attention to sound and how it creates tension. Because of this, we decided to use background music and also moments of silence to make certain scenes feel more intense. We thought this would help create a better atmosphere and make the film more engaging.

We also saw that a big part of our audience was female, so we decided to include characters and situations that feel more relatable. This would help the audience connect more with the story instead of just watching it.
