Prelim Task 4:
Diegetic vs. Non-Diegetic Sound Test:
Film a short, simple action (e.g., a character opening a door, walking down a corridor). Edit the 20-second sequence twice:
Cut 1: Use only diegetic sound (sound originating from the world of the film, like footsteps, a creaking door).
Cut 2: Add non-diegetic sound (like a dramatic musical score or a sound effect not originating from the scene) to drastically change the mood of the same sequence.
This was the task given to us. For this, we decided that a student is late for her class, so she rushes down the stairs, then the hall, then she enters her classroom quietly
To show the difference between diegetic and non-diegetic, i edited and recorded the two scenes, which are shown below
